I’m so glad I was selected to participate in the blog tour for Home All Along by Beth Wiseman. This is such a sweet story! Though I received an advance copy of the book for free, opinions shared are mine. Post contains affiliate links – if you make a purchase, I may earn a small commission.
About a year ago, I read Love Bears All Things and was introduced to Charlotte, Daniel, Hannah, and the rest of the characters in the series. In Home All Along, Charlotte’s story gets even deeper. When she has the chance to reconnect with a sister she’d forgotten (Andrea), Charlotte is faced with a whole new load of troubles.
The irony about Andrea is that she arrives just as Charlotte faces another deep loss. Though she tried to play off the heartache of finding her mother, then being rejected by her time and again, it’s obvious that Charlotte wanted a deeper relationship with Janell. I can relate to this situation; my father passed away after 2 decades of disconnect. His death brought sadness and the realization that lost time is never regained. Charlotte seemed to feel some of this, too, and perhaps that’s what fueled her relationship with Andrea. The author clearly tried to make Andrea seem over-the-top manipulative, but the sad fact is that I know women like her. It was hard for me to look past my judgment and want her to be okay.
I especially liked the way Wiseman made some of the other situations seem realistic. The Amish in this book face real-life problems. They’re not sheltered and protected from modern concerns. Home All Along has a satisfying blend of English and Plain issues.
