Walk into a cozy Amish novel this fall, and you won’t look back.  Beth Wiseman’s new title, Love Bears All Things, has a unique tone.  This book gives an interesting contrast between the English world and the Amish lifestyle.   Between Charlotte’s impromptu move to Lancaster County, and Jacob’s sudden escape from the Amish community, we’ll surely find out where the grass is truly greener.  Right?

I haven’t read the first book in the series, but there were enough clues to help me understand the background.  I think you could get by without the first book, although it sounds like it had an interesting plot.

Charlotte got on my nerves a bit at the beginning of Love Bears All Things.  I didn’t admire the way she took advantage of a friend’s kindness, and then abandoned her houseguest on the same night.  Despite being in a tough financial position, she didn’t look for a traditional job that she could do from outside the house.  It just didn’t make sense to me.  As the story progressed, I grew to like her a little more.

The Amish counterparts were equally as frustrating.  It’s probably just the difference in culture and beliefs.  As far as a realistic story, Beth Wiseman did a great job of keeping my interest.  There were enough surprises to compel me to read, and I ended up liking the characters in the end!
