Personally, I don’t like to read while I’m at the beach. I sit staring at the waves, birds, and watching my kids enjoy the moment. When I hear the term “Beach Read,” I usually think of a book that is pure mind candy — something I can pick up and enjoy without too much thought.  For me, books like this are fun to read, lighthearted and witty.

On that note, here are my recommendations for fun reads that made me smile.  Since these have been released for a while, you should be able to find a copy of most of them at your local library!

Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin – My review

Must Love Otters by Eliza Gordon – My review

Bridget Jones’ Diary by Helen Fielding

The Life List by Lori Nelson Spielman – my review

Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

Each of these books made me laugh out loud!  Be prepared for some zany antics from heroines that might make you roll your eyes.  They’re endearing, though, in that way that you love a girlfriend for being so different from you.

    Thanks for the contest.

  5. The term “beach read” reminds me of a trashy summer novel, something not too long not too short, something very easy to pick up and read or put down and go adventuring, and you dot’s necessarily have to be at the beach, on vacation, or even away from home to read. It’s a book that takes you to a different place in your mind, and you can easily remember your place at any time because of how interesting it is to you.
