Attention, fans of one-day stories like The Sun Is Also A Star and The Chaos of Standing Still:  Check out the newest Gayle Forman title.   I Have Lost My Way carries three emotionally lost characters into a whirlwind friendship.  I started this book 3 times and never made it past the first five pages. Finally, on the fourth attempt, I forced myself to keep going. So glad I did!

Each of the three main characters gets to tell the story from his (or her) perspective at several points in the book.  Although there were less than 300 pages in this book, it was enough to really flesh out these characters.  Ultimately, it was a wonderful story that touched my heart. I wasn’t really interested in Freya’s situation until it affected Harun and Nathaniel. The overall theme of human connectedness was so emotionally charged. It made me look at strangers in a whole new light.

There are several mentions of teens drinking alcohol, sex, and mental illness.  Gayle Forman did not shy away from uncomfortable topics, that’s for sure!

You could get this book on Kindle, but it’s slightly cheaper to get the hardcover right now.  If given a choice, I usually opt for print copies so that I can share them with friends!

  1. Gayle definitely is not afraid to discuss any issue in her writing. I am so glad that you enjoyed this one. 🙂

  2. I haven’t heard of this author, but I will check out her work. I do like books that are less than 300 pages.

  3. My eyesight has really gotten worse since I became a Diabetic! The words are fuzzy and blurry. So it takes me forever to read a novel. Sometimes I have to go back and read parts of the stories, because I forgot what I have read. This story sounds interesting and has heart ❣- without all the crime and burglary that’s usually in a story! Human nature is just as exciting and interesting. Everyone’s is different which also makes life interesting. Variety adds spice to life. I wanted to pin this book, but I couldn’t find the Pinterest button.

    • Sue, you might want to check out audiobooks! So much easier than reading a novel when eyesight is an issue. Thanks for coming by the blog. For pinterest, you can hover over the top left corner of the images for the PIN button, or find one on the left sidebar.

  4. A lot of people can relate to this book!
