Many Sparrows by Lori Benton book review

His eye is on the sparrow…and I know he watches me.  ~Civilla D. Martin

For a long time, I had a pretty little blue sparrow phone case.  Whenever I saw the case, it reminded me that God doesn’t miss even a sparrow that falls.  When my life seemed to revolve around money, material things, or the future, that little sparrow reminded me that God has taken care of my needs, even before I knew of the problem.  The belief is in my heart, but sometimes my brain has trouble remembering it!  Sometimes in books, our characters have to learn that lesson, too.  It’s no surprise that Many Sparrows was in God’s hands all along, but try convincing his mother Clare of that!   [Read more…]

Home All Along by Beth Wiseman book tour

I’m so glad I was selected to participate in the blog tour for Home All Along by Beth Wiseman. This is such a sweet story!  Though I received an advance copy of the book for free, opinions shared are mine. Post contains affiliate links – if you make a purchase, I may earn a small commission.

About a year ago, I read Love Bears All Things and was introduced to Charlotte, Daniel, Hannah, and the rest of the characters in the series.  In Home All Along, Charlotte’s story gets even deeper.  When she has the chance to reconnect with a sister she’d forgotten (Andrea), Charlotte is faced with a whole new load of troubles.  [Read more…]

The Learnalots supplemental activities for Second Grade

If you have a little one, there are many reasons to consider a supplemental learning program for your child.  If you are homeschooling, you may need a variety of resources to fully introduce a topic.  If your child attends a public school, you may consider reinforcing skills learned in the traditional classroom.  If your child needs a challenge, consider introducing these ideas early to “frontload” the information.  Finally, your child might need additional practice to master a concept.  For early learners, The Learnalots are a fun brand that make learning seem like child’s play.  We received the Second Grade interactive workbook for review.  For me, this workbook stood out from the rest in terms of academic substance and visual appeal. Little Wolf’s Book of Badness book + DVD from NCircle Entertainment

Disclosure: I am an NCircle Entertainment ambassador and received this DVD for free. Opinions shared are mine.

Kids love to hear stories about characters who do things completely against the grain.  Junie B. Jones, Dennis the Menace, and Heinz Doofenshmirtz are flawed yet lovable.  Little Wolf fits the bill in the opposite way…..in his world, he’s supposed to be bad (like his Uncle, BigBad) but he’s actually GOOD.  What’s a wolf to do?

Best Day Ever ARC – Stuck in a Good Book

Post contains affiliate links, which will send me a small commission (free to you) if you make a purchase. Opinions shared about Best Day Ever are mine.

A few days ago, I shared my review of Best Day Ever by Kaira Rouda. The book reminded me a little of The Widow or maybe The Breakdown.  It’s touted as a psychological thriller, but you might agree more with the psycho part.  This book was attached to my left arm for the entire day that I read it.  It went with me to a restaurant and the campground.  I couldn’t put it down!  Don’t you love being stuck in a good book like that? It really does make it…well, the best day ever! My friends kept telling me that the easiest part of having kids was the birth experience, and they were right.  Many aspects of parenting have gotten easier. My kids can get ready for school without assistance, and they can fend for themselves if I don’t feel like cooking supper.  In some ways, though, they need my protection more than ever.  Their online presence has newly surfaced, thanks to cell phones and laptops and 1-to-1 device ratios at school.  My children are curious about Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and texting their friends.  How do I protect them from online danger?  The Cujo smart firewall has my back.  [Read more…]

Getting organized for the 2018 tax season with the Brother P-Touch label printer

I breathed a sigh of relief when my husband took over the taxes.  Not because I didn’t know how to file them (thank you, tax software!) but it was just one less thing to keep up with.  Far be it from me to complain when he starts asking me for receipts, forms, and other papers that should have been organized long ago are probably sitting in a folder somewhere.  When I was offered a Brother P-Touch label maker to review, it seemed like divine intervention.  Could this be a hint that it’s time to get prepared early? Disclosure: Post contains affiliate links; if you make a purchase through the links, I may earn commission.
