Out of the Darkness by Debra Holz

Disclosure: I received a book for review. Opinions shared are mine.

I have been ill with strep throat for the past few days, and am finally rising out of my sickbed to be able to post today. Crazy how long it takes me to recover now that I’m hitting the almost-50 mark. I hope all of you are doing well! Today my post is about the book Out of the Darkness by Debra Holz. Although this book is about depression, I find that my “darkness” is more often caused by anxiety. The two regularly go hand in hand, and it’s a calamity many people struggle with.

The Songs That Could Have Been by Amanda Wen #giveaway

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book for review. Opinions shared are mine.

I’m really bad about not figuring out that series books go together. Last summer I enjoyed Roots of Wood and Stone by Amanda Wen. When I read The Songs That Could Have Been, it took me a couple of chapters to realize that the characters seemed familiar.

Last week, my husband’s grandfather passed away. He was such a strong spark of a man. He opened his home to us every time we visited the family, and our son is named after him. It’s hard to imagine the world without him in it.

What I Want You to See by Catherine Linka

Contrary to my overflowing book stashes, I am not a book collector. Once I finish reading a book, I quickly pass it on to someone else like a hot potato. It’s so fun to think about who would “need” to read the book next. When I read What I Want You to See, it immediately made me think of my daughter. The artsy vibes rang true, but the strength of Sabine’s determination and drive made me want to share this book with the most important young woman in my life.

One Day at Disney @DisneyBooks @BSteeleAVL @RobertIger @oaksteel

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the publisher. Opinions shared are mine.

For all the years I’ve been blogging, my Someday Dream has been to work with Disney. Our family holds our Disney vacation memories so dear. My son learned to walk at The Grand Floridian; my daughter discovered how deeply music touched her heart while we walked in Norway at Epcot. Disney is where my husband is finally able to relax and enjoy himself, far away from the daily worries and stress of work and life. For now, getting to share A Day at Disney is the closest thing I can do that resembles a Disney partnership!

My kids love their collection of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards!

How do you wind down from the day? My go-to remedy for relaxation includes a book, a cup of hot tea, and a spritz of my favorite lavender mist. Though a book about rats doesn’t seem the type to settle the soul, The Piper’s Pursuit by Melanie Dickerson is pure magic!

Well, I didn’t intend for that to happen. By that, I mean sitting down and reading this entire book in one go.
