Today we went back to school after our unexpected not-so-mini break.  Last week we were out of school for 3 days due to snow.  Add in the weekend and we had a nice 5 days off.  We called it our SnowCation since we pretty much stayed indoors all 5 days.  My son was a little under the weather earlier in the week, so keeping him home without having to miss days at work was a blessing.  We didn’t even venture outdoors until Friday afternoon; even then it was for a quick dinner and then back home.

So today when we headed back to The Real World it was a huge wakeup call.  We played musical beds last night when the kids tried to crawl in with us.  Since they like to sleep sideways, or all over me, it’s not very comfortable and I ended up trying to switch around until I finally fell asleep at 3:00 AM in my son’s comfy bed.  It was difficult to get moving and I so longed to wear my soft slippers again instead of my low-heel boots.  Unfortunately the school system frowns upon teachers who wear memory foam slippers to school.  Now that I’m home and finally have a chance to sit down 12 hours later, my knees and feet are crying out in protest.

It’s time to invest in some new shoes that will keep me on my toes all day without causing me regret at night.  I’m already dreaming about a Toms sale at Zulily.  The deals are always amazing, and they typically have styles that I don’t see in local shoe stores.

These shoes are so very cute, comfortable, and now affordable, too!  Plus every time a pair is purchased, TOMS One for One gives a pair to a child in need.  Super heart that.    I might even grab my daughter a pair of the sparkly shoes because there’s just no excuse not to have those in the closet.

Do you have any recommendations for shoes that are easy to wear all day yet don’t fall in the sneakers category?  My aching feet would love to hear!

Ageless Derma pressed powder foundation -- featured on savingsinseconds.com

Since this was the first morning back I made sure to give myself a little extra time to get ready.  Monday mornings seem to be a magnet for the unexpected timesuck like not being able to find my shoes, keys, or getting the car started.  Sometimes there’s not even time to put on my  makeup before leaving the house.  In those cases, it becomes necessary to spruce up a little in transit.  While parked or riding in the passenger seat of course!  My new Ageless Derma foundation is perhaps the easiest makeup I’ve ever applied on the go.  Since it’s pressed powder form, it doesn’t make a mess in my purse. The formula is very creamy and thick so only the littlest dab is needed.  It’s well packaged in a nice little compact that latches closed. If you’ve ever had makeup spill in your purse, you know that a well-latched compact is priceless.  The shade for me was Sea Shell, although I probably should have gone with one shade lighter. Sea Shell was a bit on the red side, which I definitely don’t need.  As long as I apply only a thin layer it works well for me. My Ageless Derma is kept in my purse so I can apply it before walking into work if needed.  You know, on those mornings when the makeup just doesn’t get applied before you leave the house. Or am I the only one who has those mornings?

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  1. I just love the one for one program. Way to go Tom’s. No one should be without shoes and they are helping one pair at a time. Oh and yes I have had those mornings too lol
