Disclosure: I received this book in exchange for an honest review.  Opinions shared are mine.

I love watching Duck Dynasty! The family is hilarious, and they share such strong love. Although they share their Christian beliefs openly, the show doesn’t bask in evangelical glory. While I’ve seen John Luke Robertson on the show many times, I really didn’t know much about his personality or beliefs until reading his book Young and Beardless.
Young and Beardless #giveaway

On the show, John Luke tends to be quiet and respectful. He treats his grandmother with gentleness, and seems to love his mama. In another book, I read about his habit of taking sermon notes. In other words, he’s a good boy. After reading Young and Beardless, though, I really saw John Luke as a man. He’s earned his stars, and shares how he did it. What a great example for young people today! Many of my students look up to the Robertson clan, since I live in camo country, too. I hope Young and Beardless makes it to their bookshelves. Be sure to ask your local library to carry this inspirational book!

In his book, Robertson shares personal stories with wit and cleverness. He’s a reader, people. He quotes The Infernal Devices, after all! I didn’t realize what a philosopher he was (even at the young age of 8). At this point in his life, he’s a newlywed with a business of his own. He wears these badges with pride and humility. He also puts forth a call to action for young people. He challenges them to show gratitude, and to accept the blessings they’ve been given. The beard becomes a symbol of wisdom and personal growth. I think it’s safe to say that we can expect to see great things from John Luke Robertson!

I don’t typically read nonfiction books, especially with such young authors, but this one was worth jumping genres. Lucky you — Tommy Nelson is giving away a copy of Young and Beardless to a lucky US reader! Open to ages 18+. Void where prohibited by law. Good luck!
