What do you think this Cicily Tote is made of?

I’m all about using repurposed materials to give them new life, but here’s one that I would never have thought of.  What do you think this bag is made of?

It’s probably tickling your brain, you’ve seen that material before, but just can’t place it. Right?  Well, I’ll tell you……..SEAT BELTS!    When I told my husband, he did a double take.  When I told my daughter, she immediately went over to the bag and started touching it, feeling the texture of the seat belt material.  Seriously, isn’t that genius?   According to Maggie Bags, the creator of this adorable purse, millions of yards of seat belt webbing are rejected by automakers each year.  That’s millions of yards of materials that could be put in a landfill.  Instead, Maggie Bags repurposes as much of this as possible to create these simply stylish bags.  I just LOVE the vibrant colors and the natural patterns that are created using the seat belt webbing.  And since Maggie Bags is located in Tennessee, I feel good knowing that I’m supporting a local business.

The inside of the bag is seriously cute.  The contrast of the lime green with the satiny purple is just brilliant.  I can’t speak enough about the quality of this bag.  It’s extremely durable, as you would imagine, but also has excellent functionality.

The little pockets are just the right size to hold my various devices without having them fall out into the purse.  The size of the bag is just right, too.   When I’m checking out a new purse, I’m always interested in the bottom of it.  I want to know that it’s sturdy enough to set on the floor of my car without tearing up.  Here’s the bottom of this purse.  Again, the quality is just superb.

Check out the Maggie Bags website and tell me what color you’d love to have.  I’m also checking out all the Maggie Bags accessories…….totally loving the keychains!!  Now, I know I’m not the only one who has matched an outfit to go with my bag.  Right?  So check out Maggie Bag’s Polyvore site, where they have already done the work for you.   This is the perfect way to spend a snowy afternoon, don’t you think?

I could play on this site all. day. long.   And I probably will.

I just read a few days ago that these beautiful bags are made from seatbelts. That is so amazing. They sure don’t look as pretty in my car! I just love Maggie’s Bags!
