Yesterday was the perfect summer day. We had a few errands to run in the morning, but were free all afternoon. We took a drive into the mountains and enjoyed the sunshine! I didn’t get many pictures because I dropped my camera on our last Dollywood trip. 🙁 So my husband was the photographer on this outing, using his phone to snap a few shots of the kids playing in the creek. They were timid at first but soon got into the splashing, laughing, and rock throwing.
As soon as we got into the car, the kids were ready for snacks. Of course! Luckily we had received our Orange Glad box for review so I had some little delectables to share. Sweets for the sweet! We opened it last night and shared a few with my sister’s family. This month’s box was really special because several of the treats were wrapped in pretty paper and tied with twine. It was adorable. This would make such a lovely gift! My brother-in-law really liked the Babka, which was a chocolate bread. I’d never heard of it before but it tasted very good (almost like a cinnamon roll, except with chocolate instead of cinnamon). I sent my niece home with the sprinkled star cookies because she’s a little firecracker! So after our little splash party at the creek, I enjoyed the hazelnut brownie. It was more of a frosted cake brownie that had a mocha flavoring. Yum! My son liked the ice dream cookies (Orange Glad specialty!) and my daughter savored the cinnamon muffin top. What a treat for all of us!
When we finally arrived home, it was time to enjoy a hot cup of tea. After all, that creek water was COLD!

Bedtime is always a good moment to cuddle up with the wee ones. Mr. SavingsInSeconds and I are so thankful for our two healthy, beautiful children. We feel that we were very blessed to become parents. When the kiddos were younger, they enjoyed reading bedtime stories. Back to the day’s adventures……we spent the evening watching the Harry Potter marathon on TV, then everyone had a good night’s rest. It was one of the best days this summer!

It can be challenging to keep my diet healthy considering the sweet tooth I have. This Yacon Syrup looks like a great alternative to sugar. I’m always happy to find a way to reduce the amount of THAT particular toxin from my body.
Refined sugar is toxic to the human body, but I hate black coffee and have a bit of a sweet tooth. This Yacon Syrup could be a good alternative to sugar in my coffee. I wonder if I can bake with it…
