That’s always nice, right?  So what are you waiting for?  Hop around to all the blogs including the GRAND PRIZE, on the linky at the bottom of this post!

Merry Christmas!

Homework hits me on both sides. As a teacher, I assign homework so that children have more exposure to the information and will be better prepared for the classroom the next day. As a parent, I encourage my daughter to independently complete her work, consulting with me only for the most challenging work. Facing the fourth grade homework is daunting and sometimes requires my child to spend 2+ hours a night on her studies. She’s a dedicated student and doesn’t waste time on completing her work; still, there are times when she doesn’t want to do that 20-minute reading assignment. Unfortunately for her, I know the impact of independent reading for kids.  Reading builds important vocabulary and fluency skills.  Last year I came upon this infographic that is so powerful, you’ve just to got to see it.  So she’s not going to get away with skipping her 20 minutes of reading.  Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmarks and Booklights make this task a bit more fun.  The bookmarks help to create ownership of the assignment, as well as hone time-management skills.  In the past we set the microwave timer to 20 minutes but my daughter wanted to sit in the kitchen to read so she could see how much time had passed.  The kitchen isn’t really a conducive spot for reading since there’s so much going on in there.  Now that she has a bookmark timer, she can read anywhere without interruption.  I found that she often read past the 20 minutes in order to finish a chapter or even to complete the book; the bookmark just helped to support that reading activity.  There are other products available on the site too.  If you have a piano student at your house, consider getting the digital metronome for a truly multi-purpose product!  Enter to win 3 animal print digital bookmarks from Mark-My-Time -- savingsinseconds.com

Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmarks would be a very thoughtful and useful gift for a classroom teacher.  If you’re trying to find something that your child’s teacher will really enjoy and use, this would be a great choice.  The teacher can send students off for independent reading without having to monitor the time limit; the children can set their own timer.  The bookmarks are available in lots of fun colors and prints.  You could have your kids decorate the bookmark with stickers and Sharpie drawings, too.  These are perfect for stuffing those stockings and filling the Easter baskets!

I love all of the bright colors! I especially like the prints for the Digital Booklight – they are so fun! I think having the booklight included on the bookmark is great because my kids are always wanting to read in the car after dark.

These bookmarks are a great idea. It is a very convenient way to keep track of how much time is spent reading, not just for students, but for everyone. The fact that it is also a book light is a neat component. Thanks for offering this great giveaway opportunity. Keep up the terrific blogging.

  13. What an amazing to teach children (and adults) time limits, but also to introduce the concept of timing in general. I home school my son. We use time limits and clocks as timers for so many of our daily activities. This would be a great addition to our class time and personal projects! I would choose the blue camo for my little one! 🙂

  14. kortney Picker says

I think this is a great idea, especially for reading programs. Sometimes kids have to log their reading time to win prizes (especially summer reading programs) this would make it so easy for the parent and child!

  15. My favorite is the pink leopard print. I’d give these to my 11 yoa step-daughter if I won. Thanks.

  16. I like the digital clip on reading light.

  17. It’s an award winning product!
