Fun craft for kids! savingsinseconds.com My kids are coming home tired from school.  After all of the stimulation they get from the classroom and playground, it’s important for me to find non-screen activities for them in the evenings.  I don’t mind a little bit of iPad time but they don’t need to be watching Stampy Longnose all night long!   A fun, quiet activity that keeps them entertained is the rainbow loom.  Both of my kids love these bright bracelets and enjoy making them together.  My daughter especially delights in making new designs.  It’s been fun to watch her explore this craft; she gets great joy from sharing her finished products with her friends.  She goes through a lot of bands so we had to find an affordable place for refill packs.I was very impressed with the Rainbow Braid refill pack because of several factors!

The sheer volume of this refill pack was amazing.  There were at least 24 bags of bands, plus accessories like beads and clips.  There were several shade variations in each color family so that theme bracelets could easily be made.  I was surprised (and pleased) to see that there were specialty colors such as metallics and neons.  My daughter squealed when she saw this pack all spread out on her desk.  She lovingly put each color group in its own resealable bag then started on her newest creations.   The bands were sturdy enough to stand up to all of her handiwork; there weren’t any flimsy bands breaking apart as she worked with them.  I really liked that these bands contain no lead or phthalates; she can play with these all day and I don’t worry about icky chemicals leeching into her skin.  She likes to make bracelets that coordinate with different outfits.  When I find cute, brightly colored clothes like the ones at Janie & Jack, she makes accessories to match.  We make such a great team!

She recently started using her bands as a way to make gifts for friends.  There have been a few recent birthday parties we had to miss due to other family obligations.  Since we didn’t attend the party, I didn’t purchase a gift for the friends but my daughter still wanted to give them a little something.  She decided to make something with her rainbow braid bands.  Some of her favorite designs include: keychain (to hang on backpack), pencil gripper, and of course—a bracelet!  I’ve encouraged her to make items like bookmarks and rings, too.  Since she started working with the loom, she’s expressed interest in learning more crafts such as crochet.  I’m thrilled that she is developing her creative side!

Would your kids enjoy playing with Rainbow Braid products?  What colors would be their favorites?

Great activity! The fun colors and all the possibilities can really get kids interested and excited. Not a boring activity that feels like school work but a fun art project for them to make things.

I think my granddaughter would enjoy making things with the Rainbow Braid loops. I use the loops as markers on my knitting projects. If I have to cut one out, it is no big deal.
