Eek! My blog was suspended — I feel like such a bad girl!

Well, it’s been a couple of days since I came home to the dreaded sight of my blog’s homepage turning blue.  The page screamed “Account Suspended” and I. Freaked. Out.  This is the first time I’ve been suspended from anything in my life; I feel like such a bad girl!  Having no idea where to even start, I went to my Facebook friends and they talked me off the ledge.  Turns out that when I transferred to a new hosting company in November 2013, my nameservers never got switched.  I don’t know what nameservers are but they are clearly very, very important to the proper functioning of a blog.  After updating the nameservers on Monday, I’ve waited with bated breath to see it come back to life.  On Tuesday night it sputtered back, lapsing back into its suspended state a few times.  However, it looks as if my blog seems to have amnesia because the most recent post shown is from November 21, 2013.  I’ve certainly published many posts since then, including at least 25 giveaways.  Alas, they’re ALL GONE — comments and all.http://www.savingsinseconds.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif The hours I’ve spent updating the tags on posts, updating images, and working on SEO content – all of it seemed wasted.  You cannot know how much this pained me!  Thankfully HostGator was able to get things back on good as new.  You might find some links that don’t go to the right place or perhaps your comment got lost in the shuffle. Thanks for bearing with me.

Lesson learned, I’ll be writing (and saving) my posts on a Word document from now on, pasting it over to WordPress when finished.  I thought everything had been backed up, saved, or whatever, but it appeared to be a complete loss.  I’m grateful that everyone has been so supportive and understanding since this is highly inconvenient in the midst of so many great sponsor giveaways!! When my blog was suspended it reminded me to appreciate the times when my computer does run smoothly and the fact that my readers actually noticed that things were awry.  Thank you!!
