#CelebrateYourState #giveaway - enter to win a prize pack from Moon Pie! savingsinseconds.com

Welcome to the Celebrate Your State giveaway! This event is sponsored by The Review Wire.  I was excited about the opportunity to share some wonderful products from the great state of TN.  After all, Tennessee is known for many great things such as country music, the Smoky Mountains, and Elvis Presley.  If you’ve never visited, make this a pit stop on your bucket list and you’re sure to experience some happy moments with a glass of sweet tea in your hand!  In the other hand, you’ll probably be holding a Moon Pie.  Did you  know that these little delights were first created in the early 1900’s by the Chattanooga Bakery? According to the Moon Pie website, it all started as a way to provide a quick meal for coal miners, who needed something handheld.

As I read the website, I realized how much Moon Pie has contributed to patriotic goodwill over the decades.  They started donating treats to troops in WWII and continue to this day — just check out their Facebook page to see how you can send a Moon Pie to a soldier for FREE!  Of course, Moon Pie has been involved in everything from NASCAR (another TN love) to Mardi Gras.  A lot has changed since the days when a person could buy a Moon Pie and an RC cola for 5 cents, but the Moon Pie is still a traditional Tennsee favorite.  I was surprised to see that there are so many flavors available.  Although I knew there were double decker sandwiches, I had no idea that there are so many other options.  Lemon, orange, salted caramel, and banana are just a few.  They also come in mini sizes that are perfect for tucking in your lunch box or even creating desserts!

Personally, I’m not a big fan of marshmallows.   I do enjoy S’mores, though, so that’s how I prepare my Moon Pie.  My friends used to tease me about it (calling me a city girl) until they tried it.  To get the perfect Moon Pie gooey-ness, unwrap the sandwich and put it in the microwave for just a few seconds.  This allows the marshmallow to soften and puff up without making all the chocolate drip off the sides.  For our microwave, 15 seconds is the magic number.  Try yours by starting small and adding more time as needed.  It’s delicious!

How do you eat your Moon Pie? savingsinseconds.com

The Moon Pie is a TN tradition and I’m so glad to share it with you in this giveaway.  Thanks to our sponsors at Moon Pie for providing the review package and prize pack!  One lucky reader will win a $25 prize pack including a variety of Moon Pie flavors and a t-shirt.  To enter, complete as many of the optional entries on the Rafflecopter as you wish. Several can be repeated each day for bonus entries! The giveaway is open to US readers ages 18+. Void where prohibited by law. Good luck!
