Make Reading Fun

Reading with my kids has been such a wonderful experience.  The smiles and hugs are the best part, but seeing my children love the written language is just wonderful.  If you’re looking for ways to make reading fun for the children in your life, consider these ideas.

Make reading part of the daily routine.

Your children might not be able to tell time on a clock, but they will definitely pick up on times built into a regular schedule.  When a nightly bath is followed by a bedtime story, snuggling under the covers becomes part of the routine.  It’s a lovely way to help your children settle in for the night, plus it leaves them with smiling thoughts as they drift off to dreamland.

Let your kids choose the books.

Make a special trip to the library or bookstore, and have the kids choose the books they want.  No book shaming!  If your son selects a Barbie book, it’s FINE.  My kids still like to read Junie B. Jones.  Actually, so do I.

Gift a personalized book.

Does your child enjoys shows like Paw Patrol or Peppa Pig? Gift a personalized book so that your little one can be part of the story! Penwizard is offering my readers 15% off — just use code HOLIDAY15 at checkout. Code is valid through 12/25.  My kids loved seeing their names in print, and personalized books were a great way to do that.

Do you have a special person on your Christmas wish list who would enjoy a personalized book?  I hope these tips help you make reading fun!
