Long Journey to Jake Palmer book review - @booklookblogger savingsinseconds.com

Few authors compel me to click the SUBMIT button like James L. Rubart.   The Long Journey to Jake Palmer is another reason why I hold Rubart on one of my favorite author pedestals.  He consistently publishes amazing works of fiction that draw in the unsuspecting reader.  Just take a look at what Rubart did with this one.

First of all, the main character — Jake — is one for the record books.  After being victimized in a terrible crime that left him physically and emotionally devastated, Jake reenters the life of business.  It’s not hard to find the ways that Rubart tried to slow Jake down.  His career and marriage were forced to take a break after his experience.  Jake’s the kind of guy that you have to root for. He’s Rudy on the nebulous field of the corridor.  (Cue the creepy music.)  I was even reminded of the movie Avatar just a bit…maybe because both main characters are named Jake.  Still, it was just insta-book love.

I hesitate to label this book as Christian fiction because it might dissuade some readers from checking it out.  The Long Journey is so much more than a powerfully spiritual book.  Fans of science fiction and even the paranormal would enjoy this title.  Mystery-loving readers might also appreciate some of the unexpected twists that occur in the story.   The deeper meaning of the book, though, would be lost without taking a long, hard look at your own heart.  Are you willing to accept the risk?
