TOONS TO GO = 40 hours of TV! savingsinseconds.com

Whoever invented my van must have been a mom. The cup holders are in the right places, there are window shades, and even a place for my sunglasses. We all agree, though, that the DVD player is the best part of our vehicle. It’s not that we turn it on all the time. Many mornings we just talk on the way to school. In the afternoon the TV doesn’t turn on until I have heard about the kids’ activities for the day. On a road trip, though, there is nothing as soothing as a TV. When the kids start drawing the territory lines in the backseat it is time to turn on the toons. Mill Creek Entertainment sent me the 100 episode DVD pack. It comes in its own carrying case (no DVD cases to slip around in the car) and there are over 40 hours of episodes! Yes, you read that right– 40 HOURS! My kids are LOVING the shows. Right now they are going through the Busytown mysteries. They’re learning key inquiry skills, how to retrace one’s steps, and the value of teamwork. All of this while I drive! The fact that there are so many DVDs in this set means that we don’t have to watch the same one over and over. TV Toons To Go – 100 Cartoon Collection is on sale for $23.41 at Amazon right now. I think that’s a steal for 10 discs! Plus, they’re rated G. It’s hard to find G-rated cartoons and movies for kids these days!

We also received the Best of BabyFirst DVD. While it is advertised for babies through 4 years old, both of my kids enjoy watching it.  They are 4 years old and 9 years old!  The scenes are slow to transition, which such a nice change from the spastic cartoons on TV today. This DVD has a good assortment of music, art, and gentle comedy. This would be an excellent gift for a 2 year old’s birthday.  Its price point of $4.99 makes it affordable, too.

With all of this TV available to me, I might just go on a road trip!  Peace and quiet in the car, the kids enjoying a good cartoon…..it might just be this mama’s heaven for a few weeks of summer!   Enter to win your own copies in the Sweet Summertime giveaway (June 1-15).

  1. I am totally with you about a mom having designed my mini van as well. The dvd player along with the ability to plug in a gaming system have made road trips tolerable.

  2. Sounds like a great thing to have!

  3. I think a dvd in the car is must have on long road trips with the kids =)!

  4. We haven’t done the DVD player in the mini van as of yet… but I’m fairly certain that we’ll have to do something like that on our next big trip!

  5. Sounds like a great product to have during those especially long road trips. Will certainly keep a look out for this DVD. Thanks for the review 🙂

AGREED! The DVD player in our van is a lifesaver at times. I’m always looking for shows to get for the girls – definitely think they would love this one!
