I’m an equal opportunity reader. For the most part, I’m willing to give nearly any book a try. Like most avid readers, there are the favorites that are barely holding together their pages. The majority of my well-worn books are stories in which the characters became friends before they fell in love. Since that’s how my husband and I grew into a relationship, it’s a romantic plot that captures my heart. I suppose that’s why I liked It’s in His Kiss so well.

This was the first Jill Shalvis book I’ve picked up, but it’s not the first Lucky Harbor title.  This is #10 in the series.  The main characters, Becca and Sam, each struggled with their own baggage.  It was hard to predict how their hearts might somehow reach one another.  I thought I knew what was going on behind the scenes of Becca’s past but it really didn’t hit me until the end of the book.  Likewise, Sam’s tough-guy exterior was not as transparent as I originally thought.  There were some pretty hot-and-heavy scenes in this book, which makes it unsuitable for young eyes.  If it makes me blush, there’s no way I can give this to my nieces.  I’m glad the cover was extremely tame because my daughter is all kinds of nosy about my books!

Love is so dependent upon trust that the two go hand in hand.  When a kiss becomes an intimate measure of trust, it’s time to open the heart a little bit.  That’s why It’s In His Kiss was a sweet book.
