Becky Wade is one of those authors who makes Christian fiction fun. She throws a little twist in the almost-predictable, making it seem fresh and new. Her clean romance novels aren’t always sugary sweet, either. When Litfuse sent me a copy of Her One and Only, my heart was happy!! Isn’t the cover cute? Incidentally, it’s a real-life married couple who posed for this cover. Super cute!
There are several things I liked about Her One and Only. First, you don’t have to read the other Porter family novels for this one to make sense. Wade gives just enough background so that the details align, but not so much that you feel like you hit “replay.” If you have read the other books, though, it’s nice to see what they’re up to. Secondly, I love the fact that the main character (Dru) is a tough former Marine….and a chick, as far as Gray is concerned. The other characters are fun, too….like Big Mack, who is addicted to watching the Disney Channel. Third, Cool Ranch Doritos are mentioned. Yum!!
Having a mystery to follow in the book (a stalker!!) made Her One and Only so much more interesting. A good romance is enjoyable, but I much prefer books like this. A real plot goes a long way, don’t you think? Becky Wade uses so many technical CSI-type details that it’s almost like watching a TV show. It’s a good thing that I had the weekend to enjoy putting together the clues!

I’ve been a huge fan of Ms. Wade’s books and the Porter Family series, in particular. This book has all the elements for a fun, inspirational romance, plus a heaping dose of suspense. It makes me curious to see what direction Wade will go in for her next novel!

I like that this book is about a real situation that could happen to any star. There are people who are obsessive, but then there are a few odd-balls that cross that line and the book elaborates on the facts.
