Let’s go fishing for apps — do you have too many?

Fishing for apps - savingsinseconds.com We started out using the iPads as learning tools.  For the most part, my kids use their iPads on educational apps and for school purposes.  I’ve been thrilled that my daughter is starting to use hers as an educational tool, such as looking up song bytes to incorporate into a project.  My son loves to use his iPad to play critical thinking puzzle type games.  Trying to find the right app is like going fishing.  Toss in  your line and you never know what you’ll pull out.  I’m starting to get a little overwhelmed with some of the choices!

On Fridays I usually try to find one of those Freebie App posts online that show you 25+ kids apps that are suddenly free.  It’s a great time to catch some samples that I might not otherwise spend the money on.  The problem is, they bog down my iPad.  My daughter’s iPad is the lowest storage capacity and holds almost nothing after she takes all her videos and pictures.  So maybe it’s time for an upgrade.  After all, her birthday is coming up!  With Apple re-releasing the iPad 4 at $399 this past week, this is a good time to trade in the older device for a newer one. Plus if by locking in an offer today, Gazelle gives 30 days to send your old or unwanted iPad to Gazelle. That way you can hold onto your old device until after your new iPad is in hand.  When Savings in Seconds readers  click through to Gazelle they will earn an extra $10 on any iPad with a trade in value of $25 or more! (Offer expires 3/28).  Every little bit helps with an expensive purchase like a new iPad, so I’m strongly considering it.  But shhhh, don’t tell my kids!

When we go fishing for apps, I would like to purchase or update without having to delete 20 other apps to make room for the new ones!

There really does seem to be an app for almost everything. It would be easy to be overwhelmed and bogged down. They all sound really cool and useful. My daughter is worried that she would bog herself down with coupon and shopping apps if she got a smartphone. Good luck upgrading and decluttering your iPad.
