Disclosure: I received this book from Litfuse. Opinions shared are mine.

Cynthia Ruchti is one of my favorite Christian authors. As an interesting observation, it seems that most of the Ruchti books I’ve read centered around a dysfunctional marriage. A Fragile Hope carries on that tradition.

Ruchti’s words tend to float off the page, creating a meaningful stream of prose that hovers over my heart. Unfortunately, this book missed the mark for me. It might be the fact that the story is written from the husband’s point of view, making me feel out of my element. His thoughts were choppy and hard to follow. Additionally, I didn’t really like him. He was self-centered and pompous, while his wife seemed like a really sweet lady. Major turn off!

The story itself was interesting. It read rather like a Lifetime Channel movie. I found myself feeling really sad for the characters, particularly Karen and her parents. The abiding hope that carried Josiah through the book was inspirational. A Fragile Hope sends a meaningful message about love and faith.

When your life’s work revolves around repairing other people’s marriages, what happens when your own marriage begins to fall apart? Find out what happens to Josiah Chamberlain in Cynthia Ruchti’s new book, A Fragile Hope. Feeling betrayed, confused, and ill-equipped for a crisis this crippling, he reexamines everything he knows about the fragility of hope and the strength of his faith and love. Love seems to have failed him. Will what’s left of his faith fail him, too? Or will it be the one thing that holds him together and sears through the impenetrable wall that separates them?
