Dress-Up Play for boys – today it’s a police costume!

It’s been a long time since my daughter played dress-up.  In fact, the last time I remember her wearing a costume was when her baby brother was born. She arrived at the hospital on her 5th birthday, which also happened to be Easter morning, wearing her Tinkerbell dress.  Apparently, part of the beauty of getting to stay with Grandma when your baby brother is born is that you can wear dress-up clothes.  Gotta love it!

That little baby in the photo above turned 5 this year, and it’s obvious that playing dress-up runs in the family.  Typically my guy chooses the superhero or the community  helper costumes.  Sometimes he even goes for a dinosaur or some other scary creature!  The point is, dress-up play is important for boys, too.  Make sure to provide your little guy with lots of ways to express his ideas and emotions!  Imagination can bloom in a costume, and not just on Halloween.  Let him wear a police costume, fireman’s outfit, or even (gasp) a Tinkerbell dress.  After all, boys need to explore their creativity, too!

We had the chance to review this fabulous policeman costume from Costume Discounters.  If you’re in the  market for Boy’s Police Costumes, this is the place to go.  My son recently saw a news clip of a woman being hurt by a policeman.  When he wore this costume, it gave us a good chance to discuss the kindness of the police and how they are, most of the time, people that we can trust.   That didn’t stop my guy from apprehending the criminals at our house, though.

We were very impressed with the quality of this costume.  This was the deluxe outfit and was definitely worth the price. It came with quite a few accessories including a hat, whistle, baton, badge, holster belt, radio, and handcuffs with keys!  We added the sunglasses from our Bluum Box.   The costume also had lots of special details.  There was a patch sewn onto the arm, an elastic waist for the perfect fit, and buttons on the shirt (even on the wrist).

Perfect costume! savingsinseconds.com

Don’t settle for a costume that will only be worn on October 31.  Your child can use the dress-up clothes in your house for all kinds of imaginative play!
