Do you ever notice ….

If you’re like my family, you’ve watched your share of ABC Family movies this month. My favorites are still the oldies, though. It just doesn’t seem like Christmas until we’ve watched at least one running of The Grinch, The Christmas Story, Charlie Brown, and Rudolph. What are your favorites?

When I was a child, these movies seemed so realistic to me. Yeah, I knew they were cartoons, but they were just vivid stories in my mind. As an adult, I find that I watch my kids’ expressions while we’re enjoying the show. When the Abominable Snowman has a toothache, I look over to see if my son understands what’s going on. Last year I realized that I watched one too many cartoons when I realized that Rudolph’s voice sounded very familiar. Although I could google it, I tried to determine the similarity on my own. Finally it dawned on me that the voice was the same as Tenderheart on the old Care Bears shows. My daughter was into the old Care Bears movies at that time, so the voice seemed fresh on my mind. After a quick google search, I verified my discovery. My children were not as impressed as I was with my detective work.

Then I found another one by accident. My son is watching Brother Bear 2 and I thought Nita’s dad’s voice sounded like King Triton. Nope, it’s voiced by Jim Cummings who is the voice of Winnie the Pooh & Tigger. BUT!!!! Kenneth Mars, who is King Triton’s voice, is also the voice of Littlefoot’s Grandfather in Land Before Time.

I spent way too much time finding out this information.

Do you ever notice things like that?   Or do you just sit back and enjoy the shows?

Check this out….

LOL – I just noticed this recently too. We were watching old spider man cartoons the other day and I realized one of the characters sounded JUST like Fred from Scooby Doo! I didn’t actually google it to check it out but I swear I am right!!

  5. When I watch shows, I do try to place faces and voices. If a face and/or voice sounds familiar, it will bug me until I figure out where I saw and/or heard it before.

My brother and I used to watch Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, and A Charlie Brown Christmas every year. I first saw A Christmas Story in the theater and loved it — such a classic, I never tire of it.

  6. I’m more of a watch and enjoy kind of cartoon viewer. But my husband is like you!

I am rather impressed that you noticed, I didn’t and let me tell you, my grandson watched Rudolph daily for over a year. Not to mention, several times a day or he would cry and cry. He has gotten over that…finally

They were very real when I was a child. I still think they are cute though.
