My mom tried to get me to wear makeup to my first school dance when I was in 6th grade.  Back then, bright blue mascara was the height of style.  I looked awesome, you can bet on that.  Well, here I am almost 3 decades later and I still like playing with makeup.   Since my skin is very sensitive, I try to wear cosmetics that contain natural ingredients.  That’s why I’ve been thrilled to sample some new products from Madison Street Beauty.   Go ahead and bookmark this page NOW because you’ll want to hit it again and again.

I was surprised at first by the size of the container.  The description on the website states that the containers hold 10 grams.  In my head, that seemed like so very little.  The containers do seem small, but I really do think these hold quite a bit more shadow than the typical palette section of my regular eyeshadows.  For each of these little strips in my photo below, the strip is formed from one little dot of shadow from one of the three holes in the container.  Tiny, tiny amount used for a lot of glam!   These little pots will really last a while.  The eyeshadows are gorgeous; so light and natural that you almost forget you’re wearing makeup.  My skin tone is pretty dark these days since I’ve been in the sun all summer. At first I assumed these particular shades would look better on someone with more fair skin tones.  Once I applied them, though, I loved the way that these shadows just glide over my skin and have a beautiful sparkle.  I think they stand out very well against my darker skin, yet would also look lovely on someone with a fair complexion.  I used the Aloe Airbrush setting powder with the shadow strip on the very end.  Can you tell that it’s a bit heavier looking?

I also loved how easily the makeup came off at the end of the day. There was no scrubbing or pulling.  I just did a gentle swipe with my eye makeup remover and my lids were squeaky clean.   Even with my sensitive skin/contact wearing eyes there were no issue with itchiness or redness.   When you purchase these, you can just use a regular eyeshadow applicator to help you sweep the powder over your lids.  I tipped the container over into its cap to shake out a little of the powder, then applied from the cap.  You can also use an eyeshadow brush if that’s what you have.   Also, I’m thinking that I need a spice rack or something to store my cute little shadows.  They are adorable and perfect for piling into a little bucket to keep on the counter.

Love the Island Cove polish -- savingsinseconds.com

Now let’s talk nail polish.   The shade I was most excited to try was the pale pink. It’s called “Ballet Lesson.”   The sweet friends over at Madison Beauty added the bonus bottle of Island Cove, a shimmering teal that I would never have selected for myself.  You know what?  I loved the Island Cove!! In fact, after I did my pinky nail in the pink for this photo, I ended up going with the teal for the rest of my fingers. Yes, I’m breaking the fall color scheme one fingernail at a time.  When I wore this color to school, I got TONS of compliments on it.   These bottles are the perfect size for trying a color for one season.  In my nail polish carrier, there are bottles of polish that are older than my children.  For some reason I can’t bear to throw out these old shades, but they’re all goopy and sticky now anyway.   These cute bottles are tiny and just right for purchasing a couple of shades for summer, then trying something completely new for fall.  I plan to grab a few of these as stocking stuffers, too!!  They don’t have a bad odor and the polish dried really quickly.  I painted these outside, took some quick pics, and went back inside to sample the eyeshadows.  My nails were dry by the time I got in the house.  That’s the kind of morning manicure I need, friends.  Lord knows there’s no time for anything else these days.

Madison Street Beauty is the product that my friends would love to get for Christmas gifts.  A few of these little containers with a pretty bow-wrapped brush…..that’s just what’s on the Nice List this year.  Don’t you think?  These cosmetics are so affordable, especially when you consider that they’re natural.  Enter the Gift Card Giveaway starting September 13 for a chance to win a $30 gift card to spend on these beauty items!   Be sure to follow Madison Street Beauty on Facebook; maybe Santa will bring you a little good cheer this year!
