Disclosure: I received this book to review. The opinions shared here are 100% mine.

Tonight my husband told me about an accident that one of our college friends suffered over the weekend.  While mowing the lawn, the man’s mower overturned and tumbled down a hill while he was trapped under the rollbar.  It sounds like the bar actually saved him, praise the Lord!!   We all know that life is fleeting but it’s easy to let that reality slip by us at times, isn’t it?   If you need a little bit of encouragement this week, check out these books that bring heaven to earth.
You’re probably heard of the book 90 Minutes in Heaven: A True Story of Death & Life by Don Piper.  It’s been around for a while and is one of the first stories about “the other side” that I’d heard of.  After a horrific collision, Don Piper was covered in a tarp because he was actually dead in his car.  God had different plans for him, though!  This book is steeped in background story.  All of the information led to an air of authenticity for me; Don Piper clearly researched his facts about the accident scene before sharing them in the book.  When Don described his first moments in heaven, he explained the emotion and thoughts that filled his mind.  I enjoyed reading about his experience and would definitely pass along this title.  Though somewhat dry, this book is a very striking reminder that Heaven is real!!!

You probably read the book Heaven Is For Real by this point.  It’s been all over the shelves and I’ve seen people reading it just about everywhere! If you haven’t experienced this story yet, consider grabbing it for a quick weekend read. It’s very easy to get through this book in just a couple of hours. “From the words of babes” has never been truer than this story! Little Todd Burpo experienced a life- and soul-changing moment in heaven with Jesus. This book would make an excellent gift for a new believer or someone who is skeptical about the afterlife. Check out my review!

If someone you love is close to death, first of all — I’m sorry. There really isn’t anything that makes it easier to lose someone, but sometimes a book can offer comfort. Last summer I shared the book Appointments With Heaven on the blog and I think you’d really like it. There is a reason that this book has a 5 star rating! Author Reggie Anderson is completely candid and open about his experiences with the veil of heaven. Honestly, I still get goosebumps when I think of some of the stories he shared! The book offered me peace and comfort about losing a loved one. Without a doubt, this is a book I’d re-read except I already passed it on to a loved one!!

Reading about these books really make me remember how much I miss my grandfather, along with my mother-in-law. I know I will be seeing them again.

These books are experiences are so emotional, touching, and thought-provoking. Two years ago my daughter was sick and we had some scary happenings. It’s comforting to hear about the beyond and hard when it touches your family. Thank you for sharing. I will have to look into Appointments with Heaven. I haven’t read that one yet.
