Willing to spend a little more on myself

For the longest time, my daughter’s wardrobe was more important than my own.  She was my little doll to dress up and show off, I guess.  I chose her outfits with care, handwashed if needed, and line dried so nothing would shrink.  Yes, I was slightly obsessed.  That’s okay, though.  Those days are over and I don’t regret them one bit.  The pictures of her in those adorable ensembles were completely worth it.  She was, and is, such a beautiful child and knowing that I dressed her to the nines was my pleasure.  These days my girl is interested in wearing Under Armour shorts and tops, so the outfit styling boils down to which colorway she’ll choose.  My son is happy in track pants and an Angry Birds tee.  It’s nothing special anymore.  So now it’s mommy’s turn!

I am now willing to spend a little more on myself.  Since I need to wear professional clothes to work, it’s important to dress well.  Accessories add a certain punch, as does my makeup and manicure.  In my spare time (what?!)  my attention goes to fashion magazines and blogs.  It’s my guilty mommy pleasure.  I love reading the great articles about the latest colors, styles, and accessories.   Seeing styles make a comeback has been a fun part of growing up.  My students are wearing colors and trends that I remember from my middle school days.  For example, these shoes from Reebok would have been soooo cool when I was a teen.  Now they’re being worn by dancers and all kinds of active women!   Reebok has some really fun colors and great looks for activewear these days.

Online shopping is nice but I like seeing fashion products in person.  The Stella & Dot brand is being mentioned in so many magazines and blogs lately that I know it’s a hot item.    If I had just a bit more time on my hands, I would totally entertain the idea of being a stylist for them.    The ability to work from home while helping women look (and feel!) amazing is such a draw for me. The current Stella & Dot June Stylist Sign-Up Special is so tempting, too.   Stylists who sign up between now and June 30th receive an extra $100 in product credit.  What a fabulous start to launching an at-home business! My husband would just love it if I added one more thing to my full plate.  I guess for now I’ll be content with buying what I want, and hope that one of my friends will become a stylist so I can live vicariously through them!

What’s your guilty (or not so guilty) mommy pleasure?
