Yesterday was declared Lazy Times. We sat around under blankets, ignored the thunderstorms lurking outside, and did quiet activities. I recently won the copy of Never Have I Ever on I’m Into Books blog, and I spent the whole afternoon reading it. My husband brought me pad thai from the nearby Thai restaurant, so this was sitting beside me on the couch. All evening. Perfection, I tell you!

This was my favorite type of psychological thriller! Set in a sleepy college town subdivision, the whole basis of Never Have I Ever was marinated past regrets. For me, the book’s appeal was entirely wrapped around the main character Amy. I loved her! She was smart, honest, and witty. Best of all, she appreciated her family and would do anything to keep it.

At first, I felt like Amy was handling her situation in the wrong way. After thinking about it, though, I can see her dilemma. She was trying to spare her family pain, and she really didn’t want people to know about her past. And why should it be exposed? The Amy from 25 years ago didn’t exist anymore. Amy’s current world was filled with the cliquey pettiness of the Desperate Housewives variety. Her anxiety was real. I loved the way she saw people for who they are, thought out consequences, and weighed her options.

Rainy days call for takeout and a good book. I LOVED Never Have I Ever by Joshilyn Jackson! Planning to read all of her books after this one. Review on my blog! Big thanks to I’m Into Books for sending me this copy.

There were two or three points in the book when author Joshilyn Jackson absolutely shocked me. I was actually breathless with surprise! While those twisty points might have been a little far-fetched, I could accept them. Instead of looking for a string of coincidence, it was more looking at the past and realizing how choices and decisions led to a certain outcome.

This was my first book from this author. I’m already planning to read the rest of her book list, and you better believe takeout will be involved.

Never Have I Ever releases on July 30, 2019.
