I recently read online that rates of mental disorder tend to double after emergencies. While this may seem like common sense especially in a socially devastating event like a war or natural disaster, I wondered if it’s also true for individual trauma. In February I had the chance to review a really great book called Prime of Life.

Prime of Life is on my bookshelf -- savingsinseconds.com

The main character in Prime of Life is Ben, a janitor at a retirement home. He seems ordinary yet quirky, then as we learn more about him we find that there’s so much more than meets the eye. It’s as if he struggles with OCD or a similar mental illness.  Although it was probably a tendency that he’d had since adolescence, Ben’s nervous habits radically emerged after a he experienced a great personal crisis.  I really came to love Ben’s character.  I hope you’ll enjoy this book, too.

Even though I received this book to review, the opinions posted here are mine. The winner will receive my review copy of this book.
