One book Tommy Nelson recently offered was It Will Be Okay by Lysa TerKeurst.  It is a book that parents of nervous children will want to check out!

Life can be a frightening time for kids.  This is especially true at Halloween but can really apply to any situation of change.  During the Halloween season, many children like a little bit of the spooky side; however, too much of a good thing is really scary!   It Will Be Okay is a good book to read to soothe your child in moments of anxiety and fear.  The book opens with 10 memory verses to help your child hide God’s word in his/her heart.  Those verses can be a source of comfort in times of distress.   It Will Be Okay has beautiful illustrations with fun, bold fonts.  Children will enjoy reading along, exclaiming words like “Yippee!” The story guides children to the realization that the Farmer had everything under control all along.  As you might guess, the Farmer symbolizes God.   As the characters in the story learn to trust the Farmer, they recognize that things really will be okay. I like the fact that the book doesn’t dismiss the fears that children have. Instead, it teaches them to rely on their faith.  How many adults need to learn that lesson, too!

If you have children, how do you soothe their fears about the world?

I think this would be a wonderful book. My daughter has a pink care bear that she has had since she was 6 months old. She always wants to sleep with it when she is sick. The bear has been in the hospital with her and she seemed to rest better after my husband ran home and got it for her.

I let my grandkids know that God is watching over them always and make sure to tell them I love them and hug them.

My grandson has a blue puppy that he keeps close to him.

  4. I’m an adult, but I still get terrified during big, unknown life changes, especially some unexpected changes that occurred in my life this past year. Maybe it sounds silly, but browsing this book description made me feel a little better. God is faithful, but sometimes we all need a reminder that it will be okay. 😉

  5. This book would be timely for my daughter. I pray with her when she’s afraid but she worries alot about things. She has stuffed animals that she likes to sleep with but when she’s really afraid she will ask me to pray for her.

  6. My middle son has a special green blanket that he likes to snuggle with when he is afraid. It brings him comfort.

  7. I rock them in my arms, tell them that I love them, say everything will be ok as they hold their favorite stuffed animal.

  8. helping kids memorize a verse about fear works very well
