April 1st marked the opening of the annual California auction. This event supports the American Red Cross in their efforts to promote earthquake preparedness. I had a pen pal who lived in Los Angeles during the big 1994 earthquake. She wrote to me and told me about the experience; her terror was evident even in a letter. Supporting the American Red Cross in their earthquake preparedness quest is simple even if you don’t reside in California. The Red Cross shop on IfOnly is home to some incredible experiences. Many of the packages carry a pretty price tag, but I found a few that seemed to be a relative bargain. The purchases come with a a chance to benefit the American Red Cross while hanging with today’s top musicians, actors and entertainers.
Some of the packages range in the thousands for once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Would you be willing to part with $1200 for a chance to have the best seats in the house while jamming with Shania Twain? This includes luxury accommodations at Caesar’s Palace for the 3 day, 2 night trip. If you’d like a Vegas experience without the big expense, consider this package for only $500 — it still includes a concert and hotel accommodations. I think that’s pretty reasonable, especially if you can find low airfare in your area! I’m all about the VIP package. If you don’t need a hotel room, then what about this $500 ticket to see Lady Antebellum? Tim McGraw’s special is only $300, which seems like a great way to celebrate a special anniversary or another event while also helping out a good cause.
If I could splurge, we’d be in Vegas enjoying some of these events!
Nice post I’m glad the Red Cross has come up with an exciting and innovative way to earn money. I wasn’t sure where you were going with this post after reading the title but quickly realized the meaning. I agree Vegas or Shania Twain would be amazing
I wish I had some extra money – but it’s certainly fun to dream. I think I’ll go look and see what’s there just for the heck of it.
Now how incredible would that be to experience some of those things!? I always tell people that spending money on physical items is nice but I’d rather spend money to experience things-memories last a lifetime 🙂

I think it’s great when charity events create experiences that treat those bidding and donating, while also raising awareness and money.
