It’s such a blessing to know that I’m daily held up in prayer by loved ones. As a mama who prays for her children every day (multiple times a day!), I also appreciate the fact that God hears my fears and dreams for my children. Before my children even existed, they were prayed for. In the book I Prayed for You, children learn how deeply loved they are by the action of prayer. It’s a wonderful way to verbalize love, from the time the baby’s held in Mama’s arms, to the moment he takes his first steps.
Another endearing feature of the text is that the Mama prays for God to GIVE her the child. It doesn’t show the Mama’s pregnancy, so it is also suitable for adoptive parents. Children who have been “born in the heart” of an adoptive Mama can still feel prayed over.
The images are adorable. Illustrations show the cozy cradle where baby sleeps, his first steps, and his cuddles with Mama. You can almost feel the warmth shining out of Mama’s loving eyes.
In addition to praying for her baby, Mama also shows gratitude for her precious gift. She thanks God for the cub. This is an important part of prayer, and I’m glad it was included in I Prayed for You.
What a lovely idea for a book; kids are comforted to know that the adults around them pray for them over and over again.
