During the summer, my day often revolves around my children’s meals and snacks. While it’s improved somewhat since they were babies, it seems that we’re still in that pattern. We are often running errands or playing outside until the kids realize they’re ravenous and they want a snack NOW. Or 5 minutes ago. So it’s important for me to have snacks that can be quickly prepared that still satisfy their cravings. Kernel Season’s sent me this lifesaver kit that has been used several times in my kitchen already! We received an air popper and an assortment of popcorn seasonings. We already had a can of popcorn in our pantry, so we immediately set out to try the flavors.
The air popper is the easiest thing ever to use. You just put in as much popcorn as you wish then plug in the popper. If desired, you can put a small amount of butter or oil in the little reservoir on top; the popcorn will heat it up as it pops. For the pictures shown above, I used about 1/4 cup of kernels. It took less than two minutes to prepare the snack. Several kernels remained unpopped but there was still more than enough for a single serving. The hard part is choosing which flavor to enjoy. My favorite is probably the kettle corn since that’s the type of microwave popcorn I always choose. It’s important to use some type of butter or oil spray to get the seasoning to stick. This little treat pops up in less than a couple of minutes and is still pretty healthy compared to many quick snacks.
There’s everything from savory to sweet to salty in the Kernel Season’s offerings. It’s great that there is nothing artificial used in these seasonings. How they manage to do that and still keep the calorie content in the single digits, I’ll never know. It must be something magical because it really tastes good. I want to get a bunch of these for pumpkin seed roasting! It’s kind of become a tradition to have a bunch of girl friends over and we carve pumpkins and roast seeds. I think playing with some of the seasonings available would be great. Like doing Buffalo Ranch, or Kettle Corn, or Chocolate Caramel! They’d take pumpkin seeds to a whole ‘nother level!

I have tried a couple of their seasonings and I like the caramel and white cheddar seasonings.
While in college, Brian Taylor was looking for a way to add some pop to his favorite snack, popcorn. He started mixing what would later become the original Kernel Season’s recipe while living on campus at the University of Michigan. That’s interesting & cool! The products are great!Especially the white cheddar!
