Complete with Confetti…..the perfect day

When was the last time that you did something that was completely for your kids?   Yesterday we did just that. We were invited to attend the SuperWhy Live show. When we found out that the Super Why Live show was going to be only 90 minutes away, I couldn’t wait to take my kids to see it.  My son loves Super Why (he’s three years old) and he’s never been to a live show of any kind.   We had a really, really busy morning and I had a headache, so I wasn’t looking forward to the drive. Nevertheless, we all piled into the car with charged iPods and assorted DS games.

Thankfully the show was at 3:30 PM, perfect timing so that we didn’t need to spend the night. It was in the strikingly beautiful Tennessee Theater in the Old City of Knoxville.  LOVE!!  My sister-in-law and I just sat and stared at the incredible architecture.  The kids were content with popcorn and water, so we had time to settle in before the show.  The Super Why Live show started off with a bang!!  There was a surprise blast of streamers that landed right on us, everyone (parents included) just loved it!!   In fact, most of the kids scrambled to grab one as a souvenir.  They had about three of these streamer moments through the show, so if you’re near the front, be prepared!!  We were so fortunate to have amazing seats and were right in the perfect spot to get showered with lots of confetti.  The kids loved it and my sister-in-law said it was her favorite part of the show!

When the show started, I was as entranced as the kids.  There was just enough humor to keep the adults going.  There was an amazing live acrobatic show that I couldn’t believe!   The characters changed form and dress really often, too, and that kept things interesting.   The way that they changed from a cartoon to a “real” person was so creative.  The show had a great message to really empower children to believe in their dreams.  There was some fun character-audience interaction, too.  My son got to high-five Woofster and his face just lit up!!   I was afraid that my daughter (8 years old) would be too old for the show but afterwards she told me she loved it.  She spelled it out for me…..L-O-V-E-D it.    I thought this was a day that was completely for my kids but truly it was as wonderful for me as it was for them.  I loved seeing their eyes light up and listening to them sing along with the music.  It was the perfect day.  As we left, I asked my niece what she thought of the show.  She said, “I wish I could wake up to confetti every morning.  And I want to watch that show over and over and over.”

Couldn’t have said it better myself!

I was so grateful that we had the opportunity to attend the show and I hope that you’ll take your little ones to it, too.  There were some fabulous discounts on the show that are still available, so if it’s heading to your town, be sure to check for deals.  The remaining cities/dates are posted below.  Check out the website at SuperWhyLive.com to find out more.

When you go:

  • Take a little extra money for snacks.  We got each kid a popcorn & water, and it was enough to last the whole show.  Or maybe you could take your own….I just wasn’t that organized.
  • If you are getting a souvenir, consider getting the cape/mask for a little boy.  It was $25 and honestly it was so worth the money.  My son LOVED it and his smile when he put it on was just precious.  He used the cape as a blanket on the way home. I think it will double as a Halloween costume for us this year.
  • Hit the PBS table if it’s there. They had some really cool freebies (bookmarks, cards, pens) at the Knoxville show.
  • Our theater had a nice big poster of the Super Why show.  If yours has something like this, take a pic in front of it and save it for a cool frame later.
