A few years ago, my husband received an offer from a book publisher to buy and promote his dissertation. Stunned and flattered, he set up an account. He’s probably paid more in bank fees than he ever received in royalties, but it’s still a cool thought! We had a good laugh about something my daughter said when the whole thing was arranged. The conversation went something like this:
Dad: So my book will be online in a couple of weeks.
Daughter: Your book?
Dad: (with a little pride) Yeah, there’s a company that’s going to publish my dissertation.
Daughter: (with surprise) You mean you’re an author?
Dad: Well, I guess I am!
Daughter: Wow! Dad!! I didn’t know you had a real job!
We’ve laughed about that many times because apparently she didn’t realize that going to the office every day WAS a real job. Ha!! If you’re in the Miami, FL area, here’s your chance to meet a “real” author (not my husband, though). Have you heard of David Jeremiah? He’s a Christian author who’s going to knock your socks off! Mark your calendar!

This would make a great Christmas gift for that person on your holiday list who loves Christian fiction! Hey, I’m not opposed to buying myself the best gifts either.
What a cute conversation and great memory! How exciting for your husband. Yes, he’s a real author and should be proud…he has a “real” job. 🙂
Congrats on releasing his book! Love the convo between him and your daughter!
This sounds like fun! I am forwarding this to some friends that I hope will be able to make the book signing.
What a cute chat about your husband! I remember meeting an author when I was a child but can’t recall who it was at the moment.
I love that conversation. I have been there with my kids over my job before. Congratulations.
That is a really cute chat! Very exciting for your hubby!
What a truly cute conversation! Congrats on his book!
