What’s on your back to school shopping list?

I’ve always loved shopping for office supplies and remember begging my mom to go look at the notebooks, pens, and other fun stuff when we were at the store.   My favorite part of shopping for Back To School season, though, is the clothes.  I love seeing the new looks for fall!  It’s the fashionista in me, I suppose.  It’s also a great time to shop for bargains.  Many states have a tax holiday around the beginning of the new school year.  The tax holiday can offer significant savings, but it’s also a mad frenzy in the store because everyone seems to come out of the woodwork to save that money.  I much prefer to shop online because I can explore so many stores in one evening without even leaving my home.

It’s still hot in our area when school starts back. Although I usually grab one or two new outfits for the very first day, the kids just wear their regular summer clothes until the weather starts to cool down. I’ve been burned more than once on buying ahead and then the clothes not fitting.  My friend referred me to Zulily, and I was skeptical at first.  Then I made a few purchases and was super pleased with my orders.  Now, when there’s a Back to School party at zulily, I do buy ahead!  I love to snag their shoes (especially Keens) when they have a special sale because it’s so much more affordable than the brick-and-mortar stores.  I love this cute outfit for the first day!!

This is also adorable.

Both of these outfits were priced under $20.  Super deal!!  I love this one for fall:

Adorable!

By the way, I’m pretty sure that’s one of the girls who used to model Mini Boden on a moms forum I belonged to back in the day.  She’s adorable!

I miss the days when my daughter would wear these cutie pie outfits, but I still love to check them out to get an idea of the trendy colors and styles for fall.

When you think of Back To School shopping, do you think of clothes or supplies?

We always start with the backpack because finding clothes that all of us agree on can be hard. Zulily always has adorable clothing though!

  3. Such adorable clothes! Can’t wait to have kids and go shopping! LOL

  4. My daughter LOVES to shop with me on Zulily. She needs to buy more tops with collars for her new school. Should be interesting to see what we can find.

  5. I can’t believe back to school is just around the corner! Although I always did enjoy back to school clothing shopping and from the looks of it that website has some downright ADORABLE clothing!!

  6. oh i miss the days my daughter could wear these too! I dressed her from head to toe in adorable outfits just like this…maybe that’s why she is such a clothes horse now. She would have loved zulily

  7. I don’t have children and my nieces and nephews are all grown up so I don’t have to shop for back to school. Those outfits are adorable – little clothes always make me smile.

Very cute and different! Fun for any girl. I do clothes shopping for my grandkids, and Zulily is great. I actually just placed an order. I love how you get free shipping all day or weekend. This really helps because shipping is often why I can’t order. They offer a variety of products and good prices.

  9. As a home-school mom, I buy things throughout the year as we need them. But we always shop the Back-to-School sales for our Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes! Colored pencils, small notebooks, etc. make great shoe box gifts! Often we can find plastic shoe boxes with cute designs that kids might use to organize desks or lockers. We store everything for a month or so, and then pack it up to give to children who might otherwise receive no Christmas gifts. Just something to keep in mind while you are shopping for your own child’s school supplies!

  10. We’ve still got unopened supplies from last year’s sales, so I’ve just got to buy school clothes! Woo hoo!

I think of supplies! Crayons and post it notes!

  12. Laurie A says

I usually think of supplies. I have a boy, so clothes aren’t too much of a care for him. And this year they have uniforms, so I’m getting most of his clothes through my mom’s company where she can get a good discount.
