What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods? We are having rainy, cold days and even a bit of snow. Reading a book in a coastal setting is like taking a mind-cation. A Stranger’s Game by Colleen Coble takes place on Jekyll Island, GA, a place I’ve always wanted to visit.

If you’ve read a book by Colleen Coble in the past, you’ll be familiar with her style of writing. She reveals bits and pieces of clues as the story goes on. It’s a slow build of suspense. Coble also builds in some history and interesting trivia with her stories. I found myself Googling things about historic buildings, sea lions in the military, and more. It was fascinating!

The story isn’t overly complex, but there’s a lot of family drama and some internal angst with the characters. I liked the single-dad romance that gently simmered on the back burner. There were also some ironic Undercover Boss-type moments that were a good reminder that one should always be careful about what they say….you never know who you could be talking to!
