After the Fog by Kathleen Shoop – book review

Disclosure: I received this book to review. The post contains affiliate links; opinions shared here are 100% mine.

Have you heard about the “killing smog” of 1948?  This was a historical event that I hadn’t read about before.  For the past 17 years, I’ve lived in an industrial town. There is a chemical plant and paper mill in our city.  When we drive over the bridge after being away from home for a few days, I can smell the acidic odor released from the factories.  In that way, I could relate to the situation faced by the town of Donora when they wondered if the town’s industry was giving them life or slowly killing them.  The characters, however, were completely different from those in my own reality.

The cold always bothered me — until #SensiStopStrips

#SensiStopStrips stopped the pain - #ad savingsinseconds.com

It’s been nearly one month since I applied the Sensi-Strips from Crest on my teeth.  If you recall, I avoided cold foods like the plague.  The pain from a delicious bite of ice cream or a rogue ice cube was not worth the moment of delight.  Although sensitive toothpastes dulled the sensitivity a bit, the results were weak-hearted at best.  I admit that I was somewhat skeptical that the Sensi-Strips would be very effective.  After four weeks, I’m here to tell you that they worked for me!  [Read more…]

Holiday Gift Guide 2014 - #GoProatBestBuy @BestBuy savingsinseconds.com #ad
Ask my husband, and he’ll tell you that the number one thing on the Christmas list this year is a camera. Not for him, though! FOR ME!! He’s been on my case for months about needing to buy a better camera. In 2013 we bought an inexpensive point-and-shoot. The camera serves its purpose (records memories) but is nothing spectacular. The photos it takes are drab and sometimes blurry. Hubby insists that I need a better camera to really catch the spirit of our life’s moments. And how can I argue with such a sweet man? I know exactly where we’ll go to find the camera we need. Best Buy has the latest cameras, including the full line of new GoPro cameras, plus a broad assortment of accessories for everyone on the holiday list! They also offer camcorders to capture those memories that must be seen to be believed.

Pretty polish ideas for fall

Disclosure: I received product samples. The post contains affiliate links; the opinions shared here are 100% mine. Now that fall is here, you might find yourself staring at your nail polish assortment wondering what shades to wear.  I’m always partial to the brighter, lighter colors of spring.  When the heavy earth tones of fall leaves come to the fashion world, my nail polishes don’t agree.  Julep challenged me to try a new shade for fall using their infographic and incorporate it into an outfit.  This is the outfit I assembled from ModCloth items. Fall outfit featured on savingsinseconds.com [Read more…]
