Recently I had an opportunity to read Dancing with Fireflies by Denise Hunter. Last year I reviewed her book Barefoot Summer, which was a sweet romance novel. Dancing With Fireflies picks up with familiar characters but explores a different relationship in the family. When I read Barefoot Summer, I was really interested in learning more about spunky Jade. I’m so excited that Denise Hunter decided to elaborate on Jade’s story!

Spring is in the air (finally!) and the cover of this book just looks so summery to me. I’m ready for the sun!

I’m a total rule follower most of the time, so it’s hard for me to relate to Jade.  She deals with things in a completely different way than I do.  Because of this, I ended up really liking her!  I admired her boldness and independence.  She seemed like the kind of girl I’d like to hang out with.

Denise Hunter has a way of bringing every character to life in her novels. Even though I read the first book in this series, I felt like this story was completely new.  Hunter brought some characters into the story that were introduced in Barefoot Summer, and they played more prominent roles in this book.   Romance is a drawing point for me in a story, but I like it to be clean — nothing too sizzling for me, thankyouverymuch.   Dancing With Fireflies was the perfect balance!
