Head to Kaye’s Kitchen for Saturday breakfast – Newland, NC

When we packed up for the Roan Mountain State Park campground last weekend, I decided not to fill the fridge with meals.  Before work, I put a roast in the slow cooker, which we enjoyed for supper the first night.  After that, we alternated between leftovers and going out for meals.  It was a real treat for me, since I didn’t need to cook and clean for our short trip.  On Saturday morning, we tried to find a new dive for breakfast.  We hit the jackpot with Kaye’s Kitchen!

Savings for a fun day at The Island in Pigeon Forge, TN #TheIslandPF

So, when we got discounted tickets for the 7D ride at The Island in Pigeon Forge, I had NO IDEA about the other rides that were just around the corner. It was our first time going there, but I just hadn’t researched it at all.  We didn’t have time to check out the rides, so we promised the kids we’d go back the next day when we had more time.  My son was especially interested in the ropes course!

We enjoyed a fun afternoon at The Island in Pigeon Forge during our recent Gatlinburg camping trip.  In fact, we enjoyed it so much we went back the next day!  We landed at The Island by happy accident, since I’d purchased Groupon package for the 7D Dark Ride Adventure.  We saw The Great Smoky Wheel and couldn’t wait to get there.   [Read more…]

Baileyton RV Park & Cabins near Greeneville TN

If you’re traveling on I-81 on the Northeast Tennessee side, and you need a place to stop, consider Baileyton RV & Cabins. We had the pleasure of staying in this campground for one week in July.  It was the first time we’d stayed at a campground without seeing it firsthand, so I was a little wary.  The TripAdvisor reviews were good and they had a high rank with Good Sam. I convinced my husband to give it a try!

Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud in Pigeon Forge #giveaway #HatfieldMcCoyDinnerShow

Disclosure: Thanks to Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud for providing us with tickets. We enjoyed it! Groupon referral links are used; opinions shared are mine.

Every time we drive through Pigeon Forge, my kids ask if we can go to the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud. The building is so eye-catching, you can’t miss it!  We were grateful to receive deeply discounted tickets to attend the dinner show this weekend.  The show was scheduled to start at 5:00 pm; make sure you arrive at least 45 minutes early.  I advise going at least an hour early so that you have time to enjoy the atmosphere before heading in for the show! Night Night book series at Family Night – Ovation Brands Restaurants

I’ve been blessed to partner with many wonderful companies in my 7 years of blogging.  Being a Tommy Nelson mommy blogger opened my eyes to the wonderful world of faith-based books for little ones.  While Ryan’s has always been a favorite restaurant of ours (even before the kids), it’s at the top of our list since I’ve worked on many campaigns with Ovation Brands.  What a thrill to share the newest Family Night promotion with you — this time, it includes BOTH of these fabulous brands!  As always, opinions shared here are mine, and I received product/gifts for posting.

Chocolate Covered Cheesecake – camping style!

Now that we’ve had two great camping trip with our new travel trailer, it’s time for me to share some of our experiences. I hope some of you will get to enjoy camping in the northeast Tennessee area, where we have beautiful mountains and stunning sunsets! My son cheerfully declared, “Everything tastes better at the camper!” and I think he’s right. We’ve had fun finding ways to create delicious meals and snacks with the simple ingredients our camper pantry holds. We’ve worked with Rigoni in the past to create snacks.  When they offered to send us a fresh jar of dairy-free Nocciolata, I knew we had to share our camper’s chocolate covered cheesecake with you!  [Read more…]

The Gathering Place Cafe – Greeneville TN

We recently took our camper on our first camping trip!  We went to Davy Crockett Birthplace campground in Limestone, TN.  On the last night of our trip, we decided to go out for dinner.  It was a welcome respite from outdoor cooking!  We tried to get in to the Butcher’s Block, but it had an hour wait list.  After consulting TripAdvisor again, we headed for The Gathering Place Cafe.  I called ahead to see how busy they were, explaining that we could arrive by 7:30 (they close at 8 pm).  I  was told that outdoor seating would soon be available and my name was added to the list.   [Read more…]

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to rent out an entire amusement park, having it all to yourself for the day?  Now I know what that feels like!

At several points in our spring break trip to Williamsburg, VA, the universe seemed to conspire against us. Both kids got the flu. We had to change hotel rooms three times.  The weather imploded on itself by the end of our trip.  It was a sopping wet day when we headed to Busch Gardens.  My husband was ready to bail, but the kids and I gathered up our ponchos and insisted on going.  We are so glad we did!   [Read more…]
