The Action Storybook Bible on Audible

As I’ve said before, the kids and I have a bit of a trek to school/work every day. We spend about an hour in the car together.  We use that time to chat and discuss all things big and small.  Several times a week, we listen to an audiobook.  My kids love The Action Bible because it’s completely unlike the other children’s Bibles they’ve read before.  This one is exciting and sometimes shocking.  I was excited to get The Action Storybook Bible from Litfuse because we enjoyed The Action Bible so much. Opinions shared are mine.

If you went to Sunday School as a child, you might remember the felt boards where your teacher displayed cut-outs to tell a story.  If you were lucky, you got to arrange some of the felt pieces!  These days, storytelling has drastically changed.  With electronics and increasingly well-defined graphics, kids expect more to keep them entertained.  I don’t think Bible reading should necessarily be entertaining; however, it’s definitely helpful when my kids want to read it instead of me forcing them to do so.

Though I’ve listened to the Action Bible, reading the pages on The Action Storybook Bible was a different experience. It looks very much like a graphic novel, which are so popular with kids right now. Each page has a short but powerful section of text that relates to the pictures.   The illustrations are created by Sergio Cariello.  I also liked the Life, Faith, Action page at the end of each story.  This short guide for parents and children helps to make the Bible story applicable in today’s society.   I’m excited to read this book with my kids.
