The Hatmaker's Heart - featured on savingsinseconds.com

Today was a lazy summer day in the Savings in Seconds house.  We wanted to get out of the house so we took a little day trip.  One of my favorite things to do in the summer is visit local shops.  It’s a great way to learn about the area in which you live, especially if you don’t normally take the time to stop in those quaint shops. Summer days at home don’t have to be actually in the house.  Get out and explore places you don’t normally visit!  We are lucky to live in a historic area where old towns are held dear.  Jonesborough and Abingdon are popular tourist spots that would be the perfect setting for The Hatmaker’s Heart.  Isn’t this cover stunning?  If you’ve been visiting local farmer’s markets or craft shows this summer, you might have seen some artisans creating beautiful work like these hats.   My sister reviewed The Hatmaker’s Heart for me.  Here’s what she had to say about it:

The Hatmaker’s Heart is a tender story of a young woman overcoming obstacles to make her dreams come true. Readers will immediately connect with Nell as she rises above her past, her disability, and opportunistic colleagues to become a success. Nell is a kindhearted young lady who works hard to maintain her integrity as she navigates the treacherous waters of the 1920’s fashion scene. One cannot help but root for Nell as she makes her way through a great new world alone.

It’s worth noting that she mentioned losing interest somewhere toward the end of the book.  I think the story petered out for her when she was about 3/4 of the way through.  You can find The Hatmaker’s Heart on Amazon.  The author Carla Stewart is also hosting a giveaway on her blog!

Now, if you’re visiting those local events you’ll probably get some cool foods like funnel cake or maybe a kebob.  I love country fair food (although it doesn’t always love me back).  Sometimes the budget doesn’t smile when I consider grabbing something like that, so on those days it’s great that Wendy’s has a value menu.

Wendy's Steakhouse Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe - featured on savingsinseconds.com #ad Have you tried the newest addition to their list?  We got to try the Jr. Steakhouse Cheeseburger Deluxe this weekend.  It’s priced at just $1.49 but reminds me of the classic Single which is my normal order.   The burger is supposed to come with a special garlic aioli but our Wendy’s was out of it that day.  Instead, they used mayo which was fine.  I definitely could tell a difference in the way the burger tasted.  This one has some unique spices that give it an almost homemade flavor, like burgers grilled outside.  Delicious!  I will certainly order this again.  Although this is a Jr. size burger, it was plenty for me when I paired it with a baked potato.

Try the new Wendy's burger -savingsinseconds.com #ad Wendy’s is one of few drive-thru places that offers a baked potato in lieu of fries.  I so appreciate that because it’s my favorite side!  This location is on our way home from many of our favorite day trip destinations, so I see many of these burgers in our summer days ahead.
