There are certain things I must have in the summer.  First, a super cute pair of flip flops and a trust bathing suit that can be put on at a moment’s notice.  We often have unexpected company visit us in the summer and I’ve got to be able to walk out the door to swim or entertain.  Secondly, a great assortment of jewelry that can go with anything in my wardrobe.  Lucky for me, Stella & Dot has a great assortment of gorgeous jewelry, scarves, bags and more that are perfect for those summer and fall outfits!  Third, there’s gotta be a good book to read.  My sister-in-law and I have developed a big fondness for the newest Christian romances.  They’re great because there are no embarrassing pages to have to flip over while you’re self-consciously trying not to envision what’s in the book.  A Bride For All Seasons is on my bookshelf and I’m glad to participate in this book tour to share it with you.

I’ll admit that the book is a bit cheesy.  After all, four entire love stories are packed into this one book.  Just know ahead of time that it’s four happy endings.  I’ve always wondered what type of person would be drawn to the idea of a mail-order bride.  Reading this book reminded me of the circumstances that women faced a century ago.   Women often depended upon men for survival.  When a woman had no real opportunities to marry someone in her hometown, the mail-order bride option was a way to find that arrangement.  Sometimes men needed to have companionship, someone to keep house, or take care of a motherless child.  A mail-order bride was an option to fill that need.  Considering today’s divorce rate, it’s obvious that choosing a mate because of love often falls on the error side of trial-and-error.  In these stories, each character has a reason for putting an ad in the Hitching Post catalog.  Each woman has a reason for answering an ad.  In the end, each story tells of redemption, faith, and unexpected love.
