Most of us know a person who is always right.  For you, it might be a family member or friend.  My person is my grandmother.  Though we weren’t really close until I was a teenager, she became almost like a mother to me.  Even now, we stay in close contact despite the hundreds of miles that separate us.  Every month, I send her a box filled with the books I reviewed. I’ve enjoyed the Chicory Inn series from Deborah Raney. Like other Christian series novels, this one follows the members of the Whitman family as they grow up and spread their wings. The final chapter in the series, Home at Last, wraps up the saga. [Read more…]

In the 1990s, my cousin introduced me to Christian music.  He was obsessed with rap at the time, so DC Talk was his favorite.  I preferred Jars of Clay and Twila Paris.  Our preferences didn’t matter, though.  The important thing was the encouragement we received from the uplifting lyrics.  To this day, I find contemporary Christian music to be important part of my worship.  When my Laura Story “Open Hands” CD arrived, we listened to it on the way to school.  We have a long commute, so we were able to hear almost all of the songs during that drive!  [Read more…]
