National Geographic Kids Books make great gifts!

Disclosure: I received these books for the holiday gift guide. Post contains affiliate links; opinions shared are mine.

National Geographic Books #giveaway

The week before Thanksgiving, our school hosted a book fair in the library.  It was wonderful to see my students get so excited about reading.  My students keep their own TBR lists (to-be-read) in their reader/writer journals. Many added titles like these National Geographic kids books on their TBR lists.  Why not consider some of these for the holiday gift list.  Whether you’re shopping for the kids, their teachers, or a holiday angel, you’re sure to hit the target with these.

When someone mentions paranormal romance, do your ears perk up? The cover of Eyes of Autumn might look spooky, but it’s more of a mysterious adventure. It reminds me of the romantic tension of Twilight. Marcus Hillyerd’s bold confidence was a little much, but it suited his character.

I didn’t realize that this was book 2 in a series. It did not impact my enjoyment of the novel. [Read more…]

Personalogy game makes a fun stocking stuffer

Disclosure: Personalogy sent me this product. Post contains affiliate links; opinions shared are mine.

A few months ago while we were on vacation, I found a Harry Potter version of Trivial Pursuit.  Our family had So.Much.Fun. playing that game! We went through all the cards over the next few weeks.  Everyone could play, which was part of the fun.  We never put it on a board with pieces or anything — we just asked the questions out loud.  Sometimes we kept score, other times we just burned time by going through the cards.  When I had the chance to check out Personalogy, I knew it would be a hit with our family! This game would make a wonderful stocking stuffer.

Our family wants to join a local gym as part of our Christmas present this year.  Since I used to love doing Pilates before my children came along, I would love to pick up yoga or Piloxing.  It looks like the Meru Lite-Gear Yoga Mat Sling could definitely come in handy in the new year!  [Read more…]

Cutie dog! savingsinseconds.com

Yes, this face looks cute — but he can be a terror!  When my mom’s little Chibby runs out of the yard, he can go for miles.  Like a heat seeking missile, he can find the tiniest nook in which to crawl.  My mom has to budget some cushion time before work just in case runs out of the door when she tries to leave. Imagine the sweet holiday memories she could make by using the Petronics remote collar with her sweetie dog.  Instead of running after him, they could play in the yard together without her worrying that he’ll run away.  What a relief!  [Read more…]

The moral of the story is, book titles matter.

Okay, that’s not the moral of the story.  It could be, though.  When I saw that title, I couldn’t help but wonder, “Whaaaa?”  Tongue-in-cheek title aside, When Jesus was a Green-Eyed Brunette by Max Davis has a fresh, spontaneous approach to what it means to be in the world but not of the world.

Here’s a little secret for you – my copy of the book hasn’t arrived yet.  I couldn’t wait, so I sneak-peeked to find out what to expect.  It reminds me a lot of a fine-tuned Chicken Soup for the Soul.  Whispers of God call all around us; if you’ve been too busy to listen, read a story or two from the book. You’ll have your eyes and ears open for God’s message! I’ll add a more complete review once I get to read my copy.

One lucky US reader will win a copy of the book, thanks to FlyBy. Open to US readers ages 18+. Void where prohibited by law.  Note specific sponsor guidelines:  Only one entrant per mailing address, per giveaway.  If you have won a prize from our sponsor Propeller / FlyBy Promotions in the last 30 days, you are not eligible to win.  Or if you have won the same prize on another blog, you are not eligible to win it again. Winner is subject to eligibility verification.
