White Teeth Global teeth whitening kit

(Disclosure – I received one of these to review several months ago.  No compensation was provided for this post.)

What’s your best feature?  You might be surprised to see how many would say that their smile is their best feature.  It’s one of the first things I notice on someone.  To me, a smile is made more beautiful when it’s pearly white.  If you’re caught hiding behind your hand instead of showing your shiny smile, you need to try the teeth whitening kit from White Teeth Global.

Romance is in the Air book hop

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links; if you make a purchase through them, I may receive a small commission. Opinions shared are mine.

Romance is no new topic to novels.  It’s a huge draw for stories of all types — whether it’s action, drama, or even horror.  My personal preference is “clean” romance.  I like to have a little to the imagination rather than have everything spelled out for me, if you please.  Young adult romance is also a favorite.  The books from this genre tend to hold my attention in more ways than just the romance.  Here are some of the February new releases that have me clicking “add to wishlist” — what’s on your wishlist? One lucky reader will win a book of choice, up to $15.

Salt to the Sea #ad #giveaway savingsinseconds.com

I’m very anxious to get my hands on Salt to the Sea. This WWII story is based on a historic event that I’ve never heard of.  The reviews are excellent, and I like the idea of the story being told from 4 different perspectives. One of the characters writes love letters home to his girl…..so touching.  It’s on my wishlist, what about you?  [Read more…]

Communication issues with a tween are tough enough. Add the cell phone battle, and you might as well wave a white flag.  With the many after school activities and weekend sleepovers that take place, a cell phone for my daughter became a necessity.  She had a small “emergency” phone but it didn’t work well, so she never used it.  It was definitely time to upgrade.  We didn’t want to let a bad cell phone connection to keep her from being able to contact us if there was an emergency.  When she asked me if she could have an iPhone from Verizon — just like mine — I said YES.  Since I’d initially opened my new customer account online, I knew that the site was reliable and user-friendly.  I was really surprised at how easy (and quick!) the online ordering process was.   Lucky for us, Verizon made it super easy and affordable to add another line.  My daughter inherited my gently loved smartphone, and I got to purchase a new iPhone 6.   Through 2/29, new customers can receive up to $50 off select smartphones with coupon code COUPONVZW.  Take a look at all the options! I love having a variety of Bible storybooks all around the house.  Just like novels and magazines, there are different moods that we satisfy with each type of storybook.  My kids like to read action stories sometimes, and comforting stories at other moments.  The new Bible storybook from Tommy Nelson, I Will Follow Jesus, has a great blend of charming artwork, kid-friendly language, and high-interest story pages.

After my son was born, I noticed big changes in my hair, skin, and fingernails. I attributed it to being tired or not eating well, but my doctor said it could be a hormonal issue. Since then, I’ve been really interested in reading more about how supplements can help to improve those symptoms. Some of you may suffer from the same problem. So when Collagen Complete contacted me with an offer to give one reader a 2-month supply of their product, I told them YES!

A Son’s Vow by Shelley Shepard Gray and Jesus Today by Sarah Young – book review

Disclosure: I received books to review; post contains affiliate links. Opinions shared are mine.

As you ponder what to read this weekend, consider these books. I enjoyed them very much!

A Son’s Vow by Shelley Shepard Gray  has the elements of a great drama without all the extra mumbo-jumbo.  At the heart of the story is a deep tragedy — the explosion at a local mill that killed five men from the Charm community.  Devastated, two young friends (Darla and Lukas) must figure out how to move on with life.  It’s a tearjerker in the making, and there’s a clear hope of more to come. The book, the first in the series, seemed quite short despite its  288 pages.  I felt like the story just flew by  me.   A Son's Vow review at savingsinseconds.com [Read more…]

Movies to make bed rest more bearable

Disclosure: Post contains affiliate links. Opinions shared are mine.
Movies to make bed rest more bearable - savingsinseconds.com With my first pregnancy, everything went well until my 29 week appointment.  After school, I went to my normal OB/GYN visit only to find that I was in labor! Those back pains I’d been feeling were labor pains, not just general pregnancy discomfort.  They sent me directly to the hospital where the doctor was finally able to stop the progress. As a result, I was required to be on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy (which turned out to be nearly 5 more weeks).  Laying in an actual bed was too much stress for my body, so I spent all of that time in a recliner.  I could only get up for restroom trips, and even then the contractions threatened to flare up.

My family and friends tried to make bed rest more bearable for me, but it was a really tough time. I was lonely, and working on my National Board Certification took up most of my time. I wasn’t allowed to even get up to get any materials from school, though, so I had to work with the documentation I’d already collected.  Playing hours of solitaire, reading lots of books, and petting the cats also got me through the day. We didn’t have internet at that time, and it was pre-texting days. Having so little to do kind of sounds lovely at this point, but it was like a dark mood at that time.  My husband was tasked with finding me movies to watch, and he trotted off to the video store to collect a few.  He brought home the most depressing titles — Schindler’s List, The Pianist, Steel Magnolias…..I guess he thought “chick flick” meant something to make me cry.  Not what a pregnant mama needs when she’s already down in the dumps!   I realized that today’s bedridden preggo mamas are a LOT younger than me, and might not have seen some of the good comedies from my pregnancy days. So, I put together a list of movies that will help bide your time on bedrest.  Hopefully you have Netflix or Amazon Prime, but if not, no worries.  They’re also pretty affordable on DVD.  [Read more…]
