At a reading conference I attended last fall, one of the presenters shared that children can lose up to 3 months of learning over the summer months. The cure, so to speak?  Keep them reading!  You realize how big of a challenge that is, though.  One way to make reading fun over the summer is to tie it in with “fun” mail.  The Little Fun Club book box contains just what you need.

I hope you don’t think I’ve fallen off the face of the earth.  Things have just been so busy around here that I had to take a step back and make sure my family was taken care of.  The flu hit us a for a second round, then an ugly stomach bug was passed around.  My daughter had several school events going on around the same time, so she got bogged down with  makeup work from the classes she missed.  She ended up bringing home this art project for illuminated texts.  Thank goodness I had a review copy of The Complete Guide to Bible Journaling — it was put to good use!

Cynthia Ruchti is one of my favorite Christian authors. As an interesting observation, it seems that most of the Ruchti books I’ve read centered around a dysfunctional marriage. A Fragile Hope carries on that tradition.
