The idea of angels has always intrigued me. I don’t doubt that the good Lord sends his angels among us to walk beside us and offer guidance. I also believe those angels protect us in times of need. The book Afloat was a good reminder for me of the physical and spiritual presence of angels in our world. While I don’t claim to have direct experience with angels, I’m sure that I’ve been watched over by one during my life. I also pray for angels to keep watch over my children and family. When I received Angels to review, I was touched by the beautiful illustrations in the pages. Flavia has always been one of my favorite artists; I remember loving Flavia’s dreamy artwork on stationary and school supplies when I was a child. Reading the Angels book brought back memories of those days. The book also has a touching way with words. It’s a lovely story to read with a child as a bedtime story. This would also make a wonderful gift, whether at a baby shower or as a birthday reminder of love.
My children love to read books together. We try to set aside time every night to read as a family. I’ve decorated their bedrooms with the warmest blankets, childlike designs and softest bedding. Sharing the Angels book was another special way to remind my children how very much I love them. It was a gentle non-denominational statement of God’s love as well.
