Disclosure: I received a product sample to try. Opinions shared are mine.
A missionary once visited my summer camp. As a child, he was adopted by a missionary who took in over 60 orphans. He told us that in Korea, bananas were an extravagant treat that they received once a year. When he moved to the US to attend college, he was shocked by the surplus of bananas we enjoyed! Every since, I’ve had a guilty conscience if ever a banana is wasted at my house. Banana bread is such a simple quick bread that it’s a shame to throw out ripe bananas. Though I’ve been mixing up this recipe for years, a fresh bottle of Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract thoroughly enriched dessert.
If you typically purchase imitation vanilla, let me help you understand how much you need Nielsen-Massey in your life. First of all, they hand-select actual vanilla beans (no artificial chemical flavors here!) Through a special process, the flavors in these Madagascar-cultivated vanilla beans just sings. You’ll notice the exotic flavor as well as the warm, rich creamy base notes.
I usually sprinkle coarse turbinado sugar on top of the dough before putting it in the oven. This time, though, I used a cinnamon sugar blend to complement the vanilla.
My family didn’t know I was baking banana bread, but my daughter came out to investigate once the aroma wafted through the house. She commented, “That smell always makes me feel at home.” There’s no better reason to bake a delicious batch using my special vanilla!
Help me brainstorm….
What other recipes would be even more delicious with Nielsen-Massey vanilla?
Thanks to Nielsen-Massey for making this post possible!
I never throw out a banana! I love making banana bread or else I just slice them up and toss them in the freezer for smoothies!

I’m not a big banana fan but I do like banana bread every now and then and my husband likes banana pudding. I love good vanilla but don’t always want to spend the money on the high quality type.
I love to bake–all year but even more so as the weather gets cooler. One of the items I make is Zucchini bread and the recipe calls for 5 teaspoons of vanilla. It makes it takes sooooo sooo good. There is nothing like good vanilla in a recipe to show that it is special.
I have used Nielsen-Massey extracts and they are really wonderful to use.
I would love to try the Tahitian.
I would love to bake something with this product; Pure Lemon Paste; Made with Nielsen-Massey’s Pure Lemon Extract, Pure Lemon Paste contains oil drawn from the natural essence of the highest quality California lemons. I’ve not made banana bread yet, but I do use vanilla extract. I don’t buy imitation vanilla; it’s nothing like the real thing. I use vanilla for homemade French toast, along other things.

Vanilla is the secret ingredient that I add to a few recipes that I want to add extra flavor too.
I add vanilla to my French Toast egg mixture and cinnamon. Sometimes I also add it to my pancake batter. Pretty tasty ?
