“Early finishers” is a term many teachers can understand. When students are given an independent task to complete, there will inevitably be some children who finish before everyone else — and they need something to do. It shouldn’t be a punishment to “finish” early, so many teachers offer enrichment opportunities for students who need that little extra push. In my classroom this year, I’m going to offer my students the chance to learn hand lettering techniques!
Handwriting is a skill that has gone by the wayside over recent years. With the dawn of smartphones and individual laptops for students, many middle schoolers still don’t know how to sign their names in cursive.
Sad, right?
Hopefully, books like the Hand Lettering Project Book & Art Kit can help students become interested in handwriting again. I love the creativity found within these pages. It’s nice to see, too, that some fonts are meant to be imperfect! Since coloring pencils are include, artists can get started right away.
This isn’t a book simply for beginners. It’s terrific for kids who like to trace, because the colors are bold and show up well under blank paper. A history of writing is included in the first few pages, which helps to connect this book to the social studies classroom as well!
I can also see how the Hand Lettering Art Set & Project Book would be helpful for crafts and even Etsy store owners. Its pages contain ideas for coloring, ligatures, and other popular font styles of the moment.
One lucky US reader will win a copy of this project book! The giveaway is open to US readers ages 18+. Void where prohibited by law. Good luck!
Thanks to Thunder Bay Press for sending me this book!
I’d love to win the hand lettering book because my girlfriend and I are both getting into hand letting a little bit. It’s a fun new way for us to grow out creative muscles 🙂
I’ve always been nterested in handwriting and lettering. I’d love to learn more and feel more confident about my lettering.
It would be great to practice different techniques of hand lettering. My daughter could use this for class projects, too.
I’d love to win this for my son who has ASD/PDD. He could use this to strenthen his motor skills. He would love it.
