Disclosure: I am an NCircle Entertainment blogger and a Tommy Mommy; we received these products to feature. Opinions shared are mine.

Traveling with baby can be a real adventure.  When my kids were small, we took many road trips to visit family and take vacations.  It seemed like we had to take tremendous amounts of gear with us!  Looking back, we probably didn’t need ALL of it.  There were some key items that helped make the trip easier, though. Here’s some entertainment to take along, as well as a few other ideas that you might keep in mind.  Keep reading to find out more!

Let’s gush about great online finds

I love the girls I work with. They are more than co-workers.  We’ve become friends.  We share recipes, tears, and vent sessions.  When one of us finds a good book or a great hair product, we make sure the others know about it.  So it just stands to reason that we’ve been gushing about our favorite online finds!  Lately, it seems when someone has a great new bag or cute palazzo pants, it’s always from an online purchase. I love seeing stylish items that can’t be found in all the stores around here.

A Love Made New by Kathleen Fuller - book review

I wanted to love this book. Really, I did.

For those who enjoy Amish romance novels, A Love Made New is a great choice. There was enough tension between the potential love interests to keep the story going.  It was easy to like the characters, too, because they each had something special to make a unique mark in the story.   [Read more…]

Fans of Chris Tomlin’s worship music will be thrilled to see the new book inspired by his hit song, Good Good Father.  This cute book features a sweet bear named Tucker who struggles with the things he sees in the world. The adorable illustrations, combined with the metaphorical themes of the King, make this book a winner.  [Read more…]

Alien Cupcakes #CelebrationSpookyTreats #giveaway at savingsinseconds.com

October is always a busy month at the Savings in Seconds house. The changing seasons means it’s time to switch out clothes….double laundry for a couple of weekends! We spend a few days cleaning out the raised beds and planting some fall crops, including several overwinter varieties. Moving all of the patio furniture inside takes some heavy lifting as well.  My daughter is old enough to be a BIG help.   I’m so grateful that she pitches in.  My son is learning how to take responsibility as well.  When the kids asked for some sweet treats at the store, we had to indulge. It would have been easy to buy some pre-made goodies. Why do that, though, when it’s so easy — and FUN! — to make Alien Cupcakes using Celebration by Frey™ candy? [Read more…]

Prince Noah and the School Pirates by Silke Schnee

We all have our special ways. From tastes in food to fashion sense, our differences make us unique. For some children, their differences can feel like burdens.
Prince Noah - Down Syndrome

Children with special needs might have a hard time relating to mainstream books. The problem isn’t necessarily text difficulty or even subject matter.  The real issue is lack of diversity in main characters.  While we teach children about tolerance, we negate some of that lesson by withholding a wide range of protagonists who deal with disabilities.  Many of my students found a hero in Percy Jackson, not because he was a demigod but because he struggled with ADHD and dyslexia.  For younger children, Prince Noah is a role model. Finding the best Halloween costumes without tearing your hair out

Halloween is always a fun time at the Savings in Seconds house. My daughter never chooses a store-bought costume. She picks random themes (candy corn princess, for example) and we have to assemble the outfit from scratch. My son prefers well-known characters, such as superheroes and cartoon characters.  Thankfully, I can usually find the Halloween costume he wants on Amazon.

Art of Rebellion by Brenda Joyce Leahy

Art of Rebellion blog tour

My trip to Paris is 41+ years in the making, so I really enjoyed visiting through the eyes of young Gabrielle.  Although I don’t share the main character’s passion for painting, I love to admire classical art and architecture. [Read more…]
